Question:
I have a brown glaze pot with ear shaped handles with finger holes near the top and is about a one gallon size. The pot is tapered in on the sides and larger at the bottom, it resembles the form of a womans body. It has the Red Wing USA marking on the bottom of the pot. I would like to know it’s value.

Answer: I can’t be certain without a photo or a more thorough description, but most likely you have a Village Green 4 quart bean pot. Do the sides have a horizontal ribbed appearance? If so, your item is from the Village Green pattern.

Village Green bean pots were available in two sizes, 2 quart and 4 quart. If yours holds 1 gallon then it must be the 4 quart size, which is much harder to find than the smaller size. However, the bean pot should have a green cover and there is no mention of one in your description. In excellent condition, a 4 quart Village Green bean pot with cover would be worth $50 to $75. Without a cover the pot alone is worth much less, maybe $15 to $20. Larry
